Glycerol-3-phosphate cytidyltransferase acts in pathways of teichoic acid biosynthesis. Teichoic acids are substituted polymers, linked by phosphodiester bonds, of glycerol, ribitol, etc. An example is poly(glycerol phosphate), the major teichoic acid of the Bacillus subtiliscell wall.
