Description:  Methylmalonyl-CoA mutase () catalyses the isomerization of succinyl-CoA to methylmalonyl-CoA during the synthesis of propionate from tricarboxylic acid-cycle intermediates in propionic acid fermentation. The adenosylcobalamin-binding, catalytic chain of methylmalonyl-CoA mutase may form homodimers, as in the mitochondrion and in Escherichia coli, or heterodimers with a shorter, homologous chain that does not bind adenosylcobalamin.
