Type: | Family | Name: | Supervillin |
Description: | Supervillin (SV, p205) belongs to the Villin/Gelsolin family. It is a peripheral membrane protein that regulates each step of cell motility, including cell spreading []. Supervillin interacts with many cytoskeletal proteins, such as F-actin, myosin II, the long form of myosin light chain kinase (L-MLCK), and some microtubule-dependent motors [, ]. In humans it is expressed in primary macrophages and localises to a substructure of successor podosomes. It couples myosin-dependent contractility to podosomes and enables their turnover []. It can also slow cell spreading by facilitating myosin II activation at the cell periphery []. | Short Name: | SV/p205 |
