Protein Domain : IPR029508

Type:  Family Name:  Coronin 1A
Description:  Coronins belongs to the WD40-repeat family, which contains the WD40 motifs that act as the protein-protein interaction sites. There are several isoforms of Coronin in mammalian cells []. Coronin-1a, primarily expressed in hematopoietic cells, has been proposed to be an actin regulatory protein that functions as a bridging protein between the plasma membrane and the actin cytoskeleton of leukocytes. This may serve to integrate outside-inside signaling with modulation of the cytoskeleton []. However, Coronin-1a may also have actin-independent functions []. Coronin-1a inhibits autophagosome formation around Mycobacterium tuberculosis-containing phagosomes. This way the intracellular pathogen Mycobacteria can survive within macrophage phagosomes [, ]. Short Name:  CORO1A
