Type: | Family | Name: | Latrophilin-2 |
Description: | Latrophilins are a family of secretin-like GPCRs that can be subdivided into 3 subtypes: Latrophilin-1 (LPH1), -2 (LPH2), and -3 (LPH3). LPH1 is a brain-specific calcium independent receptor of alpha-latrotoxin (LTX), a neurotoxin. The affinity of this form of the receptor for LTX that gives the family its name. LPH2 and LPH3, whilst sharing extensive sequence similarity to LPH1, do not bind LTX. LPH1 and LPH3 are expressed in neurons, while LPH2 is ubiquitous []. LPH2 is a component of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition in the heart [] and may be involved in breast cancer []. | Short Name: | Latrophilin-2 |
