Type: | Domain | Name: | Exostosin , C-terminal |
Description: | This entry represents the C-terminal domain of exostosins (EXTs), which belong to the glycosyltransferase 47 family. In humans, there are five exostosins identified, including EXT1-2, EXTL1-3. They are glycosyltransferases required for the biosynthesis of heparan-sulfate []. They may be tumour suppressors in humans []. EXTL2 catalyses the transfer reaction of N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylgalactosamine from the respective UDP-sugars to the non-reducing end of [glucuronic acid]beta 1-3[galactose]beta 1-O-naphthalenemethanol, an acceptor substrate analogue of the natural common linker of various glycosylaminoglycans. They are also required for the biosynthesis of heparan-sulphate []. This domain is also found in Arabidopsis glycosyltransferase 64 family members []. | Short Name: | EXT_C |
