Type: | Domain | Name: | Creatinase/Aminopeptidase P/Spt16, N-terminal |
Description: | This entry represents the N-terminal domain of creatinase and aminopeptidase P, and the N-terminal lobe domain of the FACT complex subunit Spt16. Creatinase or creatine amidinohydrolase () catalyses the conversion of creatine and water to sarcosine and urea. The enzyme works as a homodimer, and is induced by choline chloride. Each monomer of creatinase has two clearly defined domains, a small N-terminal domain, and a large C-terminal domain. The structure of the N-terminal domain of creatinase is similar to N-terminal domain of aminopeptidase P (X-Pro aminopeptidase I,II and III ) and related sequences belonging to the peptidase M24B family. Yeast facilitator of chromatin transcription complex (FACT) is a heterodimer (composed of Spt16 and Pob3) that associates with chromatin via interaction with Nhp6A and Nhp6B proteins. In Spt16, the N-terminal lobe of the NTD (N-terminal domain) acts as a protein-protein interaction domain presumably with partners outside of the FACT complex []. | Short Name: | Creatin/AminoP/Spt16_NTD |
