MAN1 is an integral protein of the inner nuclear membrane which binds to chromatin associated proteins and plays a role in nuclear organisation. The C-terminal nulceoplasmic region forms a DNA binding winged helix and binds to Smad []. LEM protein 2 is an essential protein involved in chromosome segregation and cell division, probably via its interaction with lmn-1, the main component of nuclear lamina.
