Protein Domain : IPR018477

Type:  Family Name:  Bicaudal-D protein, microtubule-associated
Description:  BicD proteins consist of three coiled-coiled domains and are involved in dynein-mediated minus end-directed transport from the Golgi apparatus to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) []. Glycogen synthase kinase-3beta (GSK-3beta) is required for the binding of BICD to dynein but not to dynactin, acting to maintain the anchoring of microtubules to the centromere []. It appears that amino-acid residues 437-617 of BicD and the kinase activity of GSK-3 are necessary for the formation of a complex between BicD and GSK-3beta in intact cells []. Short Name:  Bicaudal-D_microtubule-assoc
