GO Term : GO:0002416 IgG immunoglobulin transcytosis in epithelial cells mediated by FcRn immunoglobulin receptor GO

Namespace:  biological_process Obsolete:  false
description  The process of transporting IgG immunoglobulin, via transcytosis using the FcRn (also known as the neonatal Fc receptor; gene name FCGRT), from apical surface of an epithelial cell to the basolateral surface or vice versa depending on the location. This process is used for uptake of IgG from the milk in the gut in rodents, for transplacental transport of IgG from mother to embryo in humans, and for maintenance of a steady-state distribution of IgG across epithelial boundaries in general in adult mammals.

Identifier Name Description
GO:0006810 transport The directed movement of substances (such as macromolecules, small molecules, ions) into, out of or within a cell, or between cells, or within a multicellular organism by means of some agent such as a transporter or pore.
GO:0016192 vesicle-mediated transport A cellular transport process in which transported substances are moved in membrane-bounded vesicles; transported substances are enclosed in the vesicle lumen or located in the vesicle membrane. The process begins with a step that directs a substance to the forming vesicle, and includes vesicle budding and coating. Vesicles are then targeted to, and fuse with, an acceptor membrane.
GO:0044699 single-organism process A biological process that involves only one organism.
GO:0051179 localization Any process in which a cell, a substance, or a cellular entity, such as a protein complex or organelle, is transported to or maintained in a specific location.
GO:1902578 single-organism localization A localization which involves only one organism.
GO:0008150 biological_process Any process specifically pertinent to the functioning of integrated living units: cells, tissues, organs, and organisms. A process is a collection of molecular events with a defined beginning and end.
GO:0051234 establishment of localization The directed movement of a cell, substance or cellular entity, such as a protein complex or organelle, to a specific location.
GO:0044765 single-organism transport The directed movement of substances (such as macromolecules, small molecules, ions) into, out of or within a cell, or between cells, or within a multicellular organism by means of some agent such as a transporter or pore, involving a single organism.
GO:0045056 transcytosis The directed movement of endocytosed material through the cell and its exocytosis from the plasma membrane at the opposite side.
GO:0002414 immunoglobulin transcytosis in epithelial cells The process of transporting immunoglobulin, via transcytosis, from one side of an epithelial cell to the other.
GO:0002416 IgG immunoglobulin transcytosis in epithelial cells mediated by FcRn immunoglobulin receptor The process of transporting IgG immunoglobulin, via transcytosis using the FcRn (also known as the neonatal Fc receptor; gene name FCGRT), from apical surface of an epithelial cell to the basolateral surface or vice versa depending on the location. This process is used for uptake of IgG from the milk in the gut in rodents, for transplacental transport of IgG from mother to embryo in humans, and for maintenance of a steady-state distribution of IgG across epithelial boundaries in general in adult mammals.
