GO Term : GO:0039582 suppression by virus of host PKR activity by positive regulation of PKR nuclear localization GO

Namespace:  biological_process Obsolete:  false
description  Any process in which a virus stops, prevents, or reduces the frequency, rate or extent of host PKR (protein kinase regulated by RNA) activity by promoting the localization of PKR in the nucleus. For example, human cytomegalovirus (HMCV) gene products directly interact with PKR and inhibit its activation by sequestering it in the nucleus, away from both its activator (cytoplasmic dsRNA) and its substrate, (eIF2alpha).

Identifier Name Description
GO:0003824 catalytic activity Catalysis of a biochemical reaction at physiological temperatures. In biologically catalyzed reactions, the reactants are known as substrates, and the catalysts are naturally occurring macromolecular substances known as enzymes. Enzymes possess specific binding sites for substrates, and are usually composed wholly or largely of protein, but RNA that has catalytic activity (ribozyme) is often also regarded as enzymatic.
GO:0004672 protein kinase activity Catalysis of the phosphorylation of an amino acid residue in a protein, usually according to the reaction: a protein + ATP = a phosphoprotein + ADP.
GO:0006468 protein phosphorylation The process of introducing a phosphate group on to a protein.
GO:0016310 phosphorylation The process of introducing a phosphate group into a molecule, usually with the formation of a phosphoric ester, a phosphoric anhydride or a phosphoric amide.
GO:0016772 transferase activity, transferring phosphorus-containing groups Catalysis of the transfer of a phosphorus-containing group from one compound (donor) to another (acceptor).
GO:0008152 metabolic process The chemical reactions and pathways, including anabolism and catabolism, by which living organisms transform chemical substances. Metabolic processes typically transform small molecules, but also include macromolecular processes such as DNA repair and replication, and protein synthesis and degradation.
GO:0006952 defense response Reactions, triggered in response to the presence of a foreign body or the occurrence of an injury, which result in restriction of damage to the organism attacked or prevention/recovery from the infection caused by the attack.
GO:0009607 response to biotic stimulus Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of a biotic stimulus, a stimulus caused or produced by a living organism.
GO:0006796 phosphate-containing compound metabolic process The chemical reactions and pathways involving the phosphate group, the anion or salt of any phosphoric acid.
GO:0044237 cellular metabolic process The chemical reactions and pathways by which individual cells transform chemical substances.
GO:0006950 response to stress Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of a disturbance in organismal or cellular homeostasis, usually, but not necessarily, exogenous (e.g. temperature, humidity, ionizing radiation).
GO:0016301 kinase activity Catalysis of the transfer of a phosphate group, usually from ATP, to a substrate molecule.
GO:0016773 phosphotransferase activity, alcohol group as acceptor Catalysis of the transfer of a phosphorus-containing group from one compound (donor) to an alcohol group (acceptor).
GO:0019538 protein metabolic process The chemical reactions and pathways involving a specific protein, rather than of proteins in general. Includes protein modification.
GO:0016740 transferase activity Catalysis of the transfer of a group, e.g. a methyl group, glycosyl group, acyl group, phosphorus-containing, or other groups, from one compound (generally regarded as the donor) to another compound (generally regarded as the acceptor). Transferase is the systematic name for any enzyme of EC class 2.
GO:0006464 cellular protein modification process The covalent alteration of one or more amino acids occurring in proteins, peptides and nascent polypeptides (co-translational, post-translational modifications) occurring at the level of an individual cell. Includes the modification of charged tRNAs that are destined to occur in a protein (pre-translation modification).
GO:0071704 organic substance metabolic process The chemical reactions and pathways involving an organic substance, any molecular entity containing carbon.
GO:0006955 immune response Any immune system process that functions in the calibrated response of an organism to a potential internal or invasive threat.
GO:0043412 macromolecule modification The covalent alteration of one or more monomeric units in a polypeptide, polynucleotide, polysaccharide, or other biological macromolecule, resulting in a change in its properties.
GO:0044238 primary metabolic process The chemical reactions and pathways involving those compounds which are formed as a part of the normal anabolic and catabolic processes. These processes take place in most, if not all, cells of the organism.
GO:0001932 regulation of protein phosphorylation Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of addition of phosphate groups into an amino acid in a protein.
GO:0050790 regulation of catalytic activity Any process that modulates the activity of an enzyme.
GO:0043086 negative regulation of catalytic activity Any process that stops or reduces the activity of an enzyme.
GO:0031347 regulation of defense response Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of a defense response.
GO:0045859 regulation of protein kinase activity Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of protein kinase activity.
GO:0044260 cellular macromolecule metabolic process The chemical reactions and pathways involving macromolecules, any molecule of high relative molecular mass, the structure of which essentially comprises the multiple repetition of units derived, actually or conceptually, from molecules of low relative molecular mass, as carried out by individual cells.
GO:0016032 viral process A multi-organism process in which a virus is a participant. The other participant is the host. Includes infection of a host cell, replication of the viral genome, and assembly of progeny virus particles. In some cases the viral genetic material may integrate into the host genome and only subsequently, under particular circumstances, 'complete' its life cycle.
GO:0042325 regulation of phosphorylation Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of addition of phosphate groups into a molecule.
GO:0030683 evasion or tolerance by virus of host immune response Any process, either active or passive, by which a virus avoids the effects of the host organism's immune response. The host is defined as the larger of the organisms involved in a symbiotic interaction.
GO:0045087 innate immune response Innate immune responses are defense responses mediated by germline encoded components that directly recognize components of potential pathogens.
