The enzyme uses thioredoxin as an electron donor for the reduction of PAPS to phospho-adenosine-phosphate (PAP) [, ].It is also found in NodP nodulation protein P from Rhizobium meliloti(Sinorhizobium meliloti) which has ATP sulphurylase activity (sulphate adenylate transferase) [].
